she, her, hers

You may recently experienced an argument, a breakup, or a move, a new job, a new school, a new environment, and may now be surrounded by various complex emotions. You realize that you are not the person you imagined yourself to be, and feel frustrated about it.

The people and environment around you constantly demand that you let go of anxiety, self doubt, and these 'useless' emotions. But these are all normal phenomena that occur when we are forced to look directly at ourselves under stress.

Don't have be nervous... When you seek help for yourself, change has already happened.
We will share a space, that will be small enough for me to see you; but it is also large enough to allow different ideas, identities, and backgrounds.

Here, you can tell your own story and review your self at each stage; You can let emotions flow, allowing them to be seen and felt; You can try to understand yourself and the way you connect with the world from a new perspective.

I will listen attentively, use questions to guide thinking, step by step from dealing with emotions to exploring cognition. I don't want to be anyone's teacher, I just want you to listen to your heart. Let us take this opportunity to reconsider our relationship with ourselves in a safe and inclusive environment.

When you decide to step into psychotherapy, you may think that you have many problems to solve. Some external expectations of us have become a part of our personality, even becoming constraints and burdens. But that doesn't mean letting go is an easy task. Tearing off the labels we put on ourselves can also be painful, and we can also feel lost before finding the power inside of us.

I will accompany you to discover your true self and find your own voice. I believe that the courage behind your determination will guide you in the direction of progress through our joint efforts.

About Huiyi

  • As a mental health counselor, I enhance understanding through interaction. I believe that the purpose of all questions and observations should not be solely to "background check" and obtain all the personal information in detail. When I learn more about client through language and behavior, it is more important to encourage clients to understand themselves. When we evolve from judging ourselves to understanding our inner activities, many answers will naturally emerge to us. Based on more information provided by inward exploration, we can discuss how to better utilize personal understanding to promote emotional coordination and balance in specific scenarios in life, such as the workplace, family, and intimate relationships. During the process, I emphasized a highly personalized approach based on each individual's personality and living environment, rather than providing a unified solution. When we learn to respect the rise and fall of emotions, it allows us to face future challenges more calmly and bravely.

  • Like many people, the pandemic has greatly affected my career choices. During the entire year of online classes, I had ample time to observe. I see that when we are busy solving problems around us, there is no time or opportunity to encourage us to look inward. So these issues continue to externalize, ultimately affecting our performance in daily life and also impacting our relationships, forming a cycle of stress. This discovery stimulated me to think more, prompted me to communicate more with people around me, and also made me reconsider my career plan. Although studying and obtaining a license may take longer, I want to become a psychological counselor to help my community face psychological crises. I also enjoy the emphasis on continuous learning in my career, which can motivate me to constantly challenge my existing thinking framework and is a valuable growth opportunity for me.

  • I think participating in mental health counseling requires a lot of courage. It's not just the courage to face stigmatization and change the status quo, but also the courage to look inward on this matter itself. Facing the real self, whether better or worse than imagined, this subversion of preconceptions can be very intimidating. But correspondingly, if we spend more time understanding our own reactions instead of dwelling on subjective perspectives to speculate on others' intentions, we can achieve great personal growth.

  • Continuous learning is very important to me. Among these many different types of projects, I am most interested in group supervision. In the process of communicating with other peers, I constantly receive new information and perspectives. I can understand everyone's thoughts and practical experiences on different schools of thought. In the process of sharing case studies, information from different perspectives allows me to reflect on my fixed thinking. This effectively addresses the issue of homogenization that may arise from long-term stable one-on-one supervision, allowing me to constantly engage with different schools of thought.

  • I personally think that mental health counseling does not exist to provide just short-term psychological support. Just as massage can only relieve temporary pain, the muscle strength exercises provided by physical therapy can have a long-term effect, in my opinion, psychological counseling should also have positive challenges. The ideal counseling relationship is close, close enough to have trust; There is also enough space to accommodate different identities, experiences, and perspectives. The purpose of a challenge should not be to persuade visitors to agree with the consultant's values, even if the challenge does not result in a handshake and agreement from everyone. In an environment of genuine concern, it encourages people to think and expand their thinking.
