I work with both individuals and couples. Trained in the Gottman Method and sex therapy, I help both monogamous and non-monogamous couples better understand their emotions and differences while developing their own effective ways of navigating conflict. I also support individuals in addressing sexual concerns, exploring pleasure, embracing sex positivity, and gaining insight into relationship dynamics.
I pay strong attention to trauma. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I integrate culturally responsive and psychodynamic approaches to support children and adults navigating BPD symptoms, trauma, interpersonal, and family-related concerns.
I specialize in cultural identity, immigration, and LGBTQ+ affirming counseling. I facilitate clients to have deep thinking processes and help them explore patterns and break the cycle. I help clients feel more fulfilled and boost their confidence in decision making in life.

About Charlette

I have been fascinated by psychology and sociology from a young age. Beginning in middle school, I immersed myself in books and films related to psychology and social issues. As I grew older, I began to notice how many emotions remain unsaid. Sometimes, as bystanders, we choose not to see certain struggles while silently acknowledging their existence; sometimes a genuine act of care, an uplifting piece of music, or a meaningful connection can offer strength and hope. I have always been amazed by the profound impact that family, relationships, social systems, and culture have on a person's life - shaping how we understand the world, how we love and desire, and how we face our fear. This curiosity led me to the field of psychology and ultimately inspired me to become a therapist. As a woman and an immigrant living in the United States, my own experiences have expanded my awareness of the larger systems that shape our lives. They have led me to reflect on how to accept unpleasance, how we are invited to rage; how we deconstruct and reconstruct our beliefs, and how we find our inner peace in this complex and chaotic world. I have worked in both private practice and nonprofit community mental health settings, supporting clients across the lifespan from a wide range of cultural, socioeconomic, and life backgrounds.

I tailor my approach to each client's needs and personality. I also see therapy as a collaborative process — we can discuss together what our work involves. Some sessions may include small exercises, either during or between appointments; others may be more conversational. Some clients prefer more structure, some enjoy meditation or art therapy, and some prefer no "homework" at all. We can talk about what works for you and whether any practices are a good fit. Please let me know if anything new you want to try out or you wish could be different. I welcome all kinds of feedback as it‘s very important for your comfort and therapeutic relationship. I totally understand sometimes giving feedback can be hard and sounds scary but we have nothing to lose and I promise we will all be fine!!

Therapy carries its power far beyond the room. Many of the most meaningful changes, breakthroughs, and “ah ha” moments don't happen inside the therapy room. Clients spend only one hour a week in session, which is a very small part of life, but growth often continues long after a session ends.. Sometimes I bring questions that a client doesn't have an answer to right away, and that's perfectly okay. Often, the confusion or reflection that surfaces during therapy continue to unfold between sessions, leading to new insights months, years, or even after therapy has ended. In many ways, that ongoing process is where some of the deepest growth happens.

I have completed short-term trainings in Essentials of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy I and II, Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1, Trauma Treatment Certification Training (CCTP) Level 1, and specialized training for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. I have also completed a long-term training program in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I am currently continuing my training in Gottman Level 2, CCTP Level 2, BIPOC Mental Health Specialist Certification, and deepening my study in sex therapy. At the same time, I believe that learning extends far beyond formal training. Conversations with colleagues, engagement in community spaces, meaningful relationships, new experiences, and ongoing reflection all continue to shape my growth and perspective as a therapist. Life itself remains one of my most important teachers.
